Life moves at a very fast pace, especially for those of us living and working in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. We are constantly trying to balance our many roles and responsibilities at work and at home while also finding time for ourselves. Sometimes it feels overwhelming and exhausting. Sometimes our expectations of ourselves do not match up with how we are performing. Expectations others have for us can be just as difficult to cope with if we believe we are not meeting them perfectly. The day in day out grind of life takes over and we lose sight of our long term goals and dreams. Until one day we realize we are stuck. We are in a rut. We are unhappy with ourselves and our lives.
In my work with adults I draw from various clinical approaches. Cognitive-behavioral interventions are targeted at reducing symptoms and improving coping skills through increased emotional awareness and regulation as well as challenging negative beliefs.
Common issues addressed in therapy:
- Life Transitions
- Low Self-Worth
- Childhood Trauma
- Relationship Struggles
- Parenting Stressors
- Perinatal Mental Health (Pre- and Post-Partum)
